Reformatting with OS CD

I have a Gateway desktop that I would like to reformat and erase everything completely. The only disk I could find was the Operating System CD. Will that do what I want? On the disk itself, it does not say anything about reformatting so thats why I'm wondering if it won't work.

what exactly does it sya on the front of the cd?

if is not they gateway reinstall, but the actual windows cd, then you can by deleting the current partition, and creating a new one, which is automatically formatted.

yes thats more than likely the right disk, jus boot off of it and see wot it sez?? one thing it may not have the drivers for ur pc on it ho so put them on a cd before u wipe it!!

Yeah, same with DELL, if you find operating system disk, or re-installation discs, that is generally the OS disc. Do you know how to reformat? Do you need instrctions? Well, I found some anyway..
