Firefox help pleeeeeeeaaaaaaasse!

I am trying to download some apps from, download.com, but a message saying 'to protect your computer, firefox prevented this site from installing software on your computer'. When I click on the 'edit options...' tab nothing happens!!!

Any ideas?

I saw a post for a similar problem that says to check that something is checked as true in the 'about:cofig menu'. I did this and it hasnt made any difference

If your in a hurry, then just use ie, download what u want, and then go from there.

You may have an old version, which one do you have? Try re-installing it, never heard of anything like that..

Hmmm, weird. I went to about:config in the browser window, searched 'xpi' and clicked 'xpinstall' a couple of times, eventually setting the value as true. It worked on the third go.

Oh well, problem solved.
