MacBook Microphone

I was wondering how to get a microphone working on my MacBook. I plug it in and set set all the settings on the Preferences to make it recognize external mics. but it still doesn't work. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

try iMic i think griffin makes it it converts a standard 1/8" jack into a usb so it will work with mac laptops.

my brother has one, and he has it set, so that you press esc and talk, just play around with the settings a bit. Make sure you say the commands that are listed and say them clearly.

Is the mic just a standard analogue, or a USB?

There is a standard analog jack on it, and am trying to use an Analog Mic on it

the iMic thing i mentioned is what my band music teacher uses on his mac laptop because we have to record ourselves on this software and turn it in so...sounds like you may be needing that piece of hardware
