Best Possible Mobo/CPU/Graphics Card/Ram I can get for Around 500$

First off, I like what Newegg revamped their site. They added the search criteria fields on the left side instead of at the top. More space now for viewing.

For around $500? Whew, that's a tight budget. This is not the best, but I like it:

Hmm, intel...Such decisions, Ive got all the money finally saved and was set to go AMD but now im having doubts. Was gonna go with the AMD athlon 64 3800+ Dual Core, but those Intels are looking pretty nice about now. I was going for a slightly better graphics card than that one, so I think im set my decsion. I just gotta decide AMD or INTEL

That one's good too. I just like the other one better because the E6400 is known to embarass the high end Athlon64 FX-62 processor in every major test, lol. Ok, am I bragging here?

Naaa, Bragging would be if I had decided to go AMD : )...Which I didnt

Also, Im really just building a new computer for Battlefield 2142 an Quake Wars.. SO i just wanna make sure everything can run those.

I think you should invest in an Intel system if you can. Get a hold of Ownage. He knows a lot about which processors to get. Some of the stuff he mentions go way over my head, lol. But I think he would agree on going with an Intel Core 2 Duo.

Yea Core 2 Duo, a 7600gt , a gig of ram (2 gig eventually), and some motherbaord yet to be picked out. Should last me a long ass time. IT will be GODLY compared to my older laptop (RIP)

Here's what I would personally pick if the budget was increased:

Damn, those RAM are expensive. But that Biostar motherboard above is pretty good too.
