I want to when I get the $$$ and time to build a home and a webserver (all in one)

I want to know what parts should I buy
like how much ram what processor what motherboard how many drives what os?

Does it cost to have your own server on the net? How do I get it on the net?
and how do I make it a home server too?

I have 2 computers so far and I am building another for my lil sister my dad's is a gateway and mines is a custom :)

thank you guys :)

YOu need a ISP that allows hosting, which tend to be more expensive, allong with a Static IP address.

Most likely you will need a T1 connection which is way too expensive for home use. Cost up around $500 a month. You're better off paying to have a host.

yeah man, i wouldnt count on a "web" part of the server with your own internet, it would be extremely slow, also if your going to be selling things, or any help related things, then your isp would not allow this, consider trying tcn-iso.net for a new isp, but otherwise, use your old computers and make a linux cluster.. and get a few large hdds, that is, if you really plan on doing this.

Well depends on what you mean by "home server". Their are many many kinds of servers.

However to run a webserver, it's very simple. You first need an internet connection, the faster it is, the faster other people can see you're page.
