Ok, i have this project for school that is due tuesday, and i would like to play some videos for the class, but everytime i try to play videos on window media player i get this message: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

What should i do???

open windows media player and go to Tools -> Options -> Player Tab -> and check the box that says "Download Codecs Automatically.

EDIT: if you can't find the tools button, open windows media player and right click the top of windows media player and find the tools button that way. hope this helps :)

i think what i just told him pretty much downloads that same thing as your link Atomic :p

ok well i have had that box already checked and the file still will not play....it will play with real player thow...i need to video edit it in windows media player..anyone have anymore advice.
