Untick "Fan always on"?

I was recently reading through tweaking guides and this guide said that its recommended that we should untick the "Fan always on" option. Is this advisable?

"Note that if you don't like the way in which the fan on your graphics card may alter in speed and hence noise, you can tick the 'Fan always on' option to maintain consistent fan speed. This reduces noise fluctuations, but can be dangerous due to reduced cooling so it is recommended you leave this unticked"

A. The 'fan always on' option is for cards with the OTES (i.e. 5800U) or similar cooling system in which shuts off in 2d mode. It will force fan on even in 2D mode. Of course this means the fans on the hs/f be designed such a way that this option can work."

So, if its not default in your card, I wouldn't mess with it.

Certain graphics cards would be able to have it off in 2D programs though and still get efficent cooling, but others I'm guessing if the heatsinks aren't capable would start artifacting.

So, if its on already, keep it there.
