I garbage picked a computer, and because it didn't work, I added the cd-burner, and a stick of ram from it. After the install, the computer gave me an error, saying that ram wasn't 100 MHz, and asked me if I wanted to run it at 100 MHz. I selected no, shutdown. I removed the ram, and the non-working cd-burner. My computer works perfectly normal, but it takes 24 hours to boot. Windows runs at normal speed, but the boot take forever. I tried resetting CMOS, but that didn't help, and I can't get the windows 98 cd to load faster. how do I fix this problem?

Run...Msconfig....startup...turn off the stuff you dont need to start up..

yes, i would try reformatting and installing windows.... if that doesn't work i would try hardware... but no computer will take 24 hours to boot.
