explorer errors

hello everyone.
I am new to this forum and am in need of some help. Recently my computer has developed an error whenever i open explorer.exe. Basically whenever i open it I get a Windows Explorer error with the following error signature.

AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00000000

The error then closes the explorer window and repaints/refreshes my desktop.
I have done alot of forum browsing and found no real solution to my problem. Can anyone help?

Have already posted this problem once thought it was fixed but it is not can anyone help?

Hi ginger86, welcome to the forum

First I would try to repair corrupt windows files via the sfc /scannow method.

Put your XP cd in the rom drive (assuming you are running XP) cancel the auto run, go to start > run and type in sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and the /, if typed incorrectly it won't run) this is a windows system file checker that will replace corrupt windows system files.

If that doesn't work then I would suggest a repair install of windows.

Didnt fix it but think i have located the problem to some downloaded video files

The error only occurs when i enter the folder they are in and at no other time or so it would seem. though i am not 100% sure as windows does tend to play tricks

Well if you can't access or don't need them and they are the cause of the problem, delete the folder and see if the issue is resolved I guess.
