How do I run hardware tests?

For example, how do I test to see if my power supply is being pushed to the max? Im gonna get Thermaltake Smart Fan's for my new PC so Ill be able to see the temp's inside - but aside from that, I dont know what else I should be monitoring inside the tower.

is it just your psu you want to test or all of your hardware? i dont know anything that tests your psu but you can use these tocalculate how much power you are sucking form it:

but for the other components there are:

memtest86 for your RAM:

http://www.memtest.org/

Prime95 or super PI for your CPU :

http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm

and 3Dmark05 or 06 for your graphics card

You don't need to run Prime95 unless you have been overclocking and need to check if it's stable. Super Pi is a fun program to run to see how fast your PC can calculate pi

Well, I will overclock the new system, but thats only after I thoroughly understand how to do it properly without having it blowing up in my face - literally.
