I just got a new PC, and it's been running fine for the first week. However, lately when I've been visiting blogs, some links cause my computer to shut down, mostly ones with video plug ins (no, it's not porn). My computer gets really slow, my monitor starts to turn off and on, then it eventually turns off. I can run heavy games like Battlefield 2 with no problem at all, but going on the net causes crashes. Any idea what's causing this?

i doubt it has to do with hardware. Video plugins can sometimes contain viruses in them, thats what I heard from a friend of mine. Try running a few virus scans, as well as spyware ones. If that does not work, see if all your hardware is working correctly.
You can try installing a fresh copy of Windows, as that fixes everything software related.

sometimes when a webpage asks you to download active x or you need java for the page to open, they contain viruses. like tranc-n-e said run a couple of virus scans, i suggest AVG it will run through the entire comps registry to see if there is a problem.
