I was trying to overclock my CPU, but it won't let me get into my CPU or RAM settings. What gives?

Was your system prebuilt? (Is it Dell, HP, Conpaq, etc?) If it is, big companies lock the BIOS in order to prevent you from overclocking it.

I have a Compaq and the BIOS is locked but i heard u can download programs of the net that allow you to over clock through windows.

He's probably talking about the system in his signature. In which case, you might want to try a BIOS update.

It is my old one. I'm overclocking it for my brother. I've already succesfully overclocked this one. It's HP.

Well then theres your answer. The BIOS is locked up. You could try and find a software, that does what u want for you, but I never heard of one like that.
