when i turn the power button on it starts up then dies

more specific please. Any beep sounds? Anything on the screen before it dies? How long does it stay on? Do all of the fans start? Does the hdd start spinning? etc... Just give us as much info as possible.

hard drive spins, no beep noises, longer i live it off the longer it'll stay, the only case connectors i have connectd are th reset, power switch and the h.d led tried a different power supply but it still didnt work

Did you install the stand off's at the back of the motherboard?

How long does it stay on for?

stand offs? like a couple seconds long enough to see the motherbaord start up screen then it just turns off

Might be the stand-off's. It's the little gold things, that seperate the motherboard from the case, to aviod shorting. Proberly that..

Your first clue something was amiss should have been the pci cards didn't fit correctly in to the slots. I hope you didn't toast the motherboard.
