What's wrong with DELL?

I hate premade computers from all companies, especially Dell. My friend has a dell, and I think its a piece of junk. Plus last I checked dell doesnt support AMD, only Intel processors.

Id rather pick out my own specs, and pay like 50-100 dollars for a specialist to build it for me, than go with dell. There are a lot of stores that will build you a computer for just 50 bucks, and its still gona be cheaper than getting a dell. Plus you actually know what youre paying for.

Put simply, they had a bad image a while back, and now changed their PC's and are currently still trying to recover from it.

What happened is they used too (and still might) use cheap, and non reliable parts.

As with the upgradability part, I cant compalin. In MY DELL; yes I own and currently use one for my main computer; everything is interchangable. Only down side to my computer is the PSU is only 375W. But I dont compalin. It even powers my UPGRADED 7600GT. I have more room for hard drives, and ram. Standard 24pin connection PSU works in the computer. Everything can and probably in the future will be replaced.

You dont exactly know what your talking about. First, your friends computer might not be new, or the redefined computers, or he just doesnt keep the hard drive clean of various bugs and viruses. But I dont expect you to know.... Apparently you like to just shoot your mouth off.

I live in Washington. The State, not DC. Anyways, I dont know of any stores that will do that for me. I know some stores that you can buy way over price parts. And I know a few internet sites that build custom computers.

I knew exactly what I paied for when I got my dell. However I got it before I was involved in the forum, and knew little to nothing about building a computer.

You dont support a viable case with your opinions (becuase they arnt facts).

Oh yeah, before I forget. Dell does sell Amd.

Just to show a few.

Anyways, the reason that Dell only sells Intel is because Intel has monopolized the Processor market. Some companies are just starting to get out of their contract. Like HP and Gateway, however Dell is still stuck to sell Intels. Its a money thing really... I dont remember the exact facts.

Dell uses AMD processors now. At least Opterons for their PowerEdge servers.

Actually, Dell's occasional deals are very good. Comes with monitor and everything, for a cheap price. And Dell monitors are among the best.

what?

I actually do know what im talking about. My friends comp. is a P4 3.8 Ghz, 1 gig ram, dono which video card tho. And it utterly sucks. I fixed his comp and everything, installed a fresh copy of Windows, optimized it to the fullest. I would have to say my P3 800 Mhz 256 RAm is maiby a bit worse than his, speed wise. Believe me or not, that the case with his comp.

And I can find stores/people to build for me easily. http://www.memoryexpress.com (a reliable store in the city i live in) does full hardware assembly for only $40 CAD. These are small stores that will also do this for you. Plus, you can just look in a newspaper and find ads about people offering to build u a comp, install windows, etc. When I didnt know how to install windows by myself, I looked at a russian newspaper, and could find tenth of ads about people asking like 40-60 dollars for hardware installation, and another 20 for windows.

That really isnt possible unless it has faulty hardware.

Well it might be, but thats a fact. Plus for some reason his Windows takes 2x longer to load than mine.

Hmmm..

I bet the hard drive has corrupted data blocks on it.

Because with that kind of computer, it really shouldnt do that....... >.-
