Windows startup problem

Ok i have windows xp pro 64-bit and when it gets to the part where its a blue screen and says WINDOWS it stays like that and it wont show my desktop files or wallpaper or anything. If i use safe mode the problem doesint happen. Can anyone please help me out and tell me what u think , thanks
 
First thin I would check would be the memory. Try booting with one stick at a time if using multiple sticks. You can also use Memtest to test your memory for errors. :D

umm how would he do that if, he cant get on the computer?
 
How is he posting here? :p

Memtest is a program that is put on a floppy. You boot to the floppy and run it from there. :D
