Ok I have a Sony Vaio Pcg-K25 with 512mb of ram and I saw on crucial.com that I have 2 slots with 256mb of ram and my max is 1 gig. It uses DDR pc2700.Now my question : Can I buy a 512 mb and just take out one of the 256? This may be a dumb question but I need help X D.

yes you can, however, you may want two of the same sticks (2 512's for example) for best performance. this may only make a difference if your motherboard supports dual channel ram.
