I believe you can as long as the laptop has windows Xp and a spare USB port

I don't see why not.
It's just like having a second internal hdd.

I'm pretty sure you can play games off of it, but it probabley won't load fast like a internal 7200RPM hdd. You could give it a try, it won't hurt

If u wanna do that, you need to make some disk images, and put them on the External HD, then download Deamon Tools, and use the ISO Image like that... if you see what i mean
