Which RAM for an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe?

I find myself in need of a RAM upgrade, but I'm not sure which to order. Here's the mobo that I currently have: http://www.buyxg.com/store/item.asp?key=MB-303-101

And here's the two different types of RAM I'm looking at:

Two sticks,

Or just one single stick?

I hear that just having one stick with this kind of motherboard takes the performance down, but I'm not really sure of how it all works.

Advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Two sticks is dual channel, which is preferred. I would rather get two 2x1GB sticks. Those 512 sticks you chose are just utter crap. Get these instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146890

Yeah that memory is crap, they over charge you like crazy just because it has lights. The stuff ownage listed is really good ram. Or you can go with this which uses the same IC.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I've gotten myself in a real pickle here.

When I made this thread, I had actually already placed the order for the 1 gig stick. I didn't find out until after (figures) that it wasn't the best choice. Or even a good one.

And just a few hours ago, I found out that I have a $20 restocking fee.

Luckily, I got customer service to agree to negate the restocking fee if I were to place an order for those other sticks which were listed, since they're around the same price.

THEY'RE OUT OF STOCK!!!

Are there any more sticks of the same type and around the same quality? I would really like to avoid having to pay an unnecessary $20.

If there's nothing else, I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet.

do they make 4 gig sticks? ddr 667 5300 my mb holds 16 gigs only 4 slots

nope, the highest density for non-ECC DIMMS is 2GB (64 x 16).

hmm i wonder my it can hold 16 gigs then....if i can only put a max of 8 but still i will never even use 8 gigs let alone 16
