Recently, the chip set fan on my motherboard has become very loud. (nearly the loudest in my case) I went into BIOS and saw that the chipset was spinning at over 6000 RPM. My first question is, is this normal for it to be spinning this fast? And if it's normal, why has it suddenly become so loud? Please help, I have no idea why it is so loud.

Well, for one 6000RPM means that the fans works and works fast.

Second, there's two types of noise. A motor-like noise and a rattling noise.

a Motor-like noise would mean to grease it up. A ratttling noise means you have dust piled inside the fan. Mostly in the bearing in it.
