the true processor speed

hi there i am thinking of buying a computer from alienware, i have chosen a processor-AMD Athlonâ„¢ 64 FX-62 Dual Core Processor these are the specs-Processor Name Athlon 64 FX-62

Processor Speed 2.8GHz

my question is what is the processor speed is it 2.8ghz or is it 2x2.8ghz (as its dual core) forgive me if this is a stuipd question but i want this machine to last a good 3 years before the need to upgrade it (its primary use is for gaming) as i run a p4 at 1.7ghz the prospect of dual core is a little confusing thx for your help

The speed is 2.8GHz. Both cores are running at the same speed.

Yea, that should work well for you. You can always overclock it if the need ever arrises in the future.
