Alright, I'll explain what I've been doing with my computer lately. I use to use an old motherboard with my old computer. Everything worked, but the processor wasn't very good and it also had some broken pins to boot. One day, I decided to dig my grandmother's compaq that she threw away out of my closet. I basically moved all my hardware into that computer, but I kept the processor.
The reason she threw away that computer was because it had a bad power supply. So, I moved my power supply over as well. I have a feeling this is the problem, because the Power Supply is smaller than the old one.
For a few weeks now, everything has worked fine...until now. Last night, I left Shareaza running overnight. I woke up around 6am and decided to see what finished while I slept. The problem was, the monitor didn't appear to be connected to the motherboard. I checked the connection and it was connected. I restarted the computer several times and nothing worked. I was still very sleepy, so I decided to try again when I woke up.
Well, I got up and turned on the computer. Right away, I saw some stuff that wasn't normal. At the Compaq splash screen, I saw it was displaying a size in MB and was increasing. It stopped at 256 and I got a message saying a lot of system options where not there. Seconds later, I got a message saying something was configured automatically for several devices (CD-Roms for example). After that, the monitor kicked off and I haven't been able to get anything to work.
The motherboard came with a Compaq Presario 7478. I have a feeling I'm going to have to switch back to my ancient Mobo...
Oh, and yes, I know I need to get a new computer. I wish I could, but I can't right now.
