Avatar Issue:
You guys keep saying that the forums can be taken advantage of so easily by having someone post a porn image as their avatar. It's easier to post a regular post with a bigger picture, and just keep posting it over and over.

That's nothing to worry about, if people wanted to put porn up as spam, they wouldnt use their avatar, they'd put it in actual posts -_-

Rank Issue:

And the Whole Changing Rank Idea. Why not make it dual lined?

Signature Issue:
And as for the Signature worry about making the thread look trashy.
1. We Have a Default setting system to not display for guests/new people, while having an option to show them for members that want it
2. You could inforce it where you can only have a banner x pixels across, by x pixels down. If anyone goes over that, it gets removed, simple.
3. If your worried about overall clutter of the page for those that do have it enabled.. You can have it only displayed for the first post in a thread
4. Or An Even more different option,
Make them required to be enclosed in spoiler tags (A Simple Add-on for VB) so that you can have maybe 4 lines of text, and a spoiler tag (So a User can click on the button to reveal the image/text)

Skin Issue:
You said the main thing about the message board is that you want it to look professional for new members, right David? So.. Leave this as the default theme. It's Great. It's Clean.

Well.. Give us members more themes to choose from (Or Get a Forum Designer to do that for you) So You get the added benefit of having a good first impression for new members, while keeping long standing ones happy with a refreshing change.

I would like to add.. that you can set it up where the default theme disables avatars, or signatures entirely, While you could have the other themes enabling them for view. (Another good option you could choose)

Overview:
Theres so many different things that can be done to make the forums look great. We understand that Computerforums means alot to you, and you don't want to change it because it has worked so far. But this is our community to. It needs to grow with us as well. With the options I've presented we can get both.

Hope People Actually read what I took time to wrote haha, I tried to organize it :p

I was thinking more like Overclocking Guru, Security Guru, etc. But for mods it gets a little tricky. Cant you put the mod's name in a different color or something? To make it easier to distinguish?

Thats true, but porn is only half of the issue, there is no real definite what is acceptable and what isn't...

or even who hosts the avatars. a lot of remote hosting options have limits as to what can be hosted, and some are slow... all in all I don't think it's a great idea... but that's just my opinion.

That is a good idea but t still doesn't answer the question of who gets what tag, what happens if they want it changed, or even who will implement these tags.

As I said before. many members can't even keep to the max five lines sig rule... what makes you think that they can stick to a max picture size rule, or even a one picture limit?
I've been a member of forums in the past that allow sig images, and yes it is fun... but there are always members who have more than one image and always members who post big images, always members who have text and images...

as soon as everyone can proove that they are able to stay at a five line limit on text then for one would support images in sigs... but that's yet to be prooven.

also again there is a hosting issue, who hosts the images?

Why not make a new style then? if you make a style and present it to david I'm sure he'd perhaps pay a little more attention to the idea than if you are suggesting that he should go out an either make one himself, or emlpoy a designer to do it.

I completly agree that the shape and stye of the community place needs to grow with the community that uses it... but I think that smoe ideas are a little harder than others to actually put into practise.

read and responded.. you ca't say fairer than that!

The 5 line rule differs from computer to computer as the resolution of the monitors are different. So I may see someone has 3 lines (i run 1680x1050) while someone running 800x600 will see that that same person has a 6 line sig. So who is right?

i was about 2 mention the same thing. we should make a standard of that or something, like 1024X768 is the most common i believe

Paradox, dead on, & clear-cut as usual, to the point, instead of waffling on, going round & round in circles, an old head on young shoulders!

That's true, But We have moderators to moderate that sort of thing. If one views something innapropriate, It gets removed. No argueing, Final Say.

And as for good hosting options. Everyone Knows about imageshack, Not to mention photobucket has alot of space. And they load quickly. (Just a to name 2)

Well, That could be up for discussion. You could have Mod appointed awards, or User changed (I dont recommend user changed), Or the Donation plan, etc.

Well, You gave my answer before I even answered you lol That would be a very good idea, see if everyone can prove they can follow the guidelines.

Well, I would gladly volunteer. But I seem to recall one time I spent alot of time working on a set of avatars, Mailing them to David, and even still nothing was done. I sent them to him before the update we finally got and nothing was done. If I could get someone seriously considering letting me put up a new theme, then I would gladly make one.

I believe the rule is set based on the 1024x768 resolution, But I could be mistaken. (Forgot Who told me that)

That was a suggestion made a while back to make the rules more clear cut... it's not set in stone anywhere, but I do think that it is a good guideline.

The 5 line rule differs from computer to computer as the resolution of the monitors are different. So I may see someone has 3 lines (i run 1680x1050) while someone running 800x600 will see that that same person has a 6 line sig. So who is right?
yes... I agreethat's strong point, but I do see people with carrige returns to add blank lines (which do still count).
so there may only be four lines of text but with a blank lin between each that makes a 7 line sig!
