speeding up downloads

i have comcast high-speed internet. i have a linksys wrt54g router. i have a d-link dwl-g520 wireless pci card. the max i can download things are 400kb/s for some reason (with opera). is there a way to speed things up a bit?

Yeah. Get FMD, Free Download Manager. It's a download manager that gets the download from mirror sites, so instead of just recieving the file from one place, it breaks it up, and recieves it from many places, speeding it up. It's free, and it doesn't contain spyware or adware.

Maybe that's the max capacity of your bandwidth. IT also dpeends on the server you conenct to when downloading files. Go to Speakeasy.net to do a speed test. You have nay idea of what your theoretical bandwidth is?
