Defragging? How often should I do it?

How often should I defragment my PC? Also, is there any other software I should run to clean things up other than spyware scan/virus scan?

I defragging about every day. I do it after I installed a game or uploaded a GB file

Once a month is the recomended,and most people like cc cleaner.

I usually do that once a week and I do disk clean ups in safe mode every month when I find the time.

I just have Diskeeper set to defrag automatically when it's required.

And software you could use to clean up your PC could be:

CC Cleaner
Window Washer (not free, think it has a trial)

Some optimisation tools

Tune-Up Utilities 2006 (not free, but has a trial)

Defrag after you download, or install something big. ie game, movie.

CCleaner keeps me pretty unfragmented(if thats a word?)... just installing a game or someting is when i need to defrag

I would defrag everytime i'v dealt with a large file like 4.5 GIGs or 1.3 gigs but since I do that on a daily basis its not partical. Me defrag every few months.

I would recommend defragging when dealing with big stuff. I defragged my hard drive a couple days ago after installinng UT2k4, it sped it up a little bit. In any other case, you should probably defrag atleast once a month to avoid turning your computer into a snail.
