ok
so i just finished setting up my new computer and i turn it on only to find it says....

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel Boot Agent

No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

...so i tried every bootable disk i had including (MOBO software, windows xp, and the video card software) pressed a key, and the same thing came up again

??? what's going on ???

no just one....
but i think the problem was that i didnt have the hard drive hooked up to the power supply, i only had it hooked up to the motherboard
....i have the hard drive running now but it still says "media test failure"

hmmmmm i really dont know whats wrong............not like i was just at ur house looking at it cause ur my neighbor or anything : )

its a SATA Hard Drive and there is 4 SATA slots on the Mobo.

Sata 0
Sata 1
Sata 2
Sata 3

and we have it plugged into Sata 0

i think it is master....
cause we moved that little grey pin thing on the hard drive to the first two pins on the left side.

im pretty sure once i get an official copy of windows xp it should be fine

although i'm still not sure what the " media test failure " means

You need to look at the hard drive, and set the jumper "little grey pin thing" to the master position. Make sure the SATA cable is in the SATA0 slot.

The OS cannot reproduce that problem, it's your hardware.

Edit: Hold on!! SATA doesnt use jumpers!!

Is it IDE or SATA?
