Processes

in the processes tab of the task manager, i have about 50 processes, many of which aren't even in the msconfig>startup thing. is there a way i can start/unstart these processes?

Right click them, and click end process.

thats kinda neat, but i want to be able to not make some of the processes not come up anymore...that might sound a bit wierd...

In Windows XP go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. There you can select the services you don't want running and choose their start-up type. Just right click on the service and select Properties.

i've learned from my mistakes, that if u don't know what your disabling ask... cause i also tried to tweak my xp...but i screwed it up so bad had to format and re-install windows

Use common sense. Google the process name. You will be able to learn what it is, and whether it's safe to get rid of it or not
