movies

yeah, the whole time while i was watching scarface, im like "vice city is totally based on this"

even the last mission is very close to the movie

Actually, Vice City was mostly based on the TV series Miami Vice (there is a movie coming out next month, starring Colin Ferrell and Jamie Foxx). Some of the main story probably takes some cues from Scarface, but it was mostly based on Miami Vice.

dude, you know how in scarface they murder a guy in the washroom?? well in vice city theres a washroom thats all covered in blood and theres a chainsaw there.

* Scarface - various references including a hidden apartment with blood on bathroom walls and a free chainsaw; the overall storyline is highly similar to the film's, as is the design of the final mission.
* Top Gun. Across town there are several Top Fun vans to be found, trough which a minigame is played, often involving racing miniature planes.
* Taxi - The interior of Kaufman Cabs is almost identical to that of the taxi depot in the television series that aired in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The name is an homage to one of Taxi's stars, the late Andy Kaufman.
* Heat - during the bank robbery during the 'Heist' mission is very similar to the one in the movie.
* The Godfather Part II - a condo available for purchase is called the Hyman condo, a reference to a character from the movie.
* Carlito's Way - Ken Rosenberg, Tommy Vercetti's lawyer and advisor looks and acts like David Kleinfeld from the film.

Hands down the Godfather. Such a classic movie. Infact, I'm sure if you looked up the word "Classic" in the dictionary, by definition you'd see "The God Father Part One" as the example. :D
