New Laptop suggestions

what about dell inspiron 6400 laptop?
intel 1.86ghz duo core
1gb ram
xp home or pro
ati x1300 256mb video card
100gb drive
8x cd/dvd burner

i got a system ike this, u cant go wrong. i get aprox. 5-8 hours battery. and it works good. Cost about 1100$

these are all nice. thnx for everyones help. But i still have a couple questions. Should i buy a warrnty? And are ibm thinkpads worth it? Cuz im not to fond of dells. I want to research alot b4 i buy one.

Yes always buy the warrenty. Things break mysteriously in computers all the time. Especially if you have a dell, the sound board is mostlikely to go. I have 2 friends that had to get their laptops replaced because the entire sound board died. Without a warrenty you are pretty much screwed if anything happens to it.
