soemthing like that !!!!!!

You would get an improvment yes, your RAM + Video card do let you down there, however, the S478 is pretty dead now, and that could be the main problem.

oh so if i got a 50 dollar mobo for like a socket 939 and a 3000+ i would b much better off??thx

Okay, you LOVE? BF2? If you really like it as much as you seem, get a new computer. BF2 loves to have 2gigs of ram. Combine that with a nice Am2 Sempron processor and a cheap 6600gt Gcard and your good to go.

Want me to set you up a cheap computer that will play BF2 nicely?

Yeah, Battlefield 2 is what you could call a Massive Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter or MMOFPS for short. Maps are huge and have lots of players, so RAM is essential. The 1GB of RAM I currently have is hardly enough for it.

In your situation, forget about the new motherboard, just get the RAM and invest in a better video card. The Radeon 9550 won't get you anywhere.

i wouldnt do anything yet, since that budget isnt going to get u far in a decent computer, i say wait and save

yeah there's no point in spending $170 right now to upgrade to something that wont make any difference. just keep waiting....and waiting..... :p

For $170, you should buy:

A Nice Solid Socket 939 Board
A Socket 939 3000+
Some new RAM
And get a PCI graphics card second hand for the short term.

When you get some money, buy a 6600GT

Well, AsRock board = $50 or so, 3000+ = $100 or so, and then buy 256MB of RAM or some clearance stuff ;)
