Windows Fails to Load

Well, my computer turns on so that you can enter BIOS if you want, and it lists system components... but then it gets frozen at a blinking underscore. Windows doesn't load, splash page doesn't appear... how can I fix this?

Can you run Safe Mode?

Press F8 repeatedly after your system has posted.

Try putting your XP CD in and doing a repair installation. It could also be a hard drive problem; do you hear any odd noises or anything?

Before doing anything, I would definitely reccommend putting in a LiveCD of some sort and backing up any files you really need. Then go ahead with fixing the problem...

Problem resolved... there are several things that could have happened. I had the following things plugged in/inserted, and after taking them out, it booted:
-SanDisk Cruzer Mini
-Halo CD
-Sony MS Pro

One of those staying plugged in could have caused the problem... it's like keeping a floppy in.

was probly the halo cd.

It depends what your boot order is really.

I doubt it was the Halo CD... I've left CD's in my drive over off-time all the time. I think it was the MS Pro.
