Been wondering for a while if I could put a high end MOBO in my Dell case. Would I have to drill new mounting holes for it? I really dont want to have to spend that much money if its possible.

i had that problem with my dell a long time ago, i would just get a cheap $25 case and use that, its not as if the dell cases are all that great anyways

I think this is the case still with the new Dells, but there is a 6-pin power cord that goes from the power supply to the motherboard. You can just disregard that, because only Dell motherboards use that.

Dells use dspecialised PSU. So, if you upgrade mobo, you must upgrade PSU.

As for the case, if this is a metal palette, maybe it is unscrewable or if you wiggle with it a bit, it will come off.

If not, make a big rectangle cut along the mobo outputs...not PCI. Then, you can slap the newer one.

Another thing I would consider is the ATX screws. Are they all well placed to fit newer mobos?
