I have recently disabled norton anti virus because of the apparent big ram usage. So i've got AVG, just wondering if its going to be as thorough as norton, is it maybe worth getting the full version?

Well, I use AVG and it finds whatever viruses are on my computer. It won't find spyware like the new version of Norton Internet Security, but for that, I recommend using BOTH Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy. I think that it should work for you. After all, it searched through over 250,000 files on my hard disk (all the preload junk). Let me know what your decision is.

i have avg free - i think it's the best virus scanner i have had - better than bullguard and mcafee.

I concur completely. I never use the software you have to buy. AVG, ZoneAlarm, and Ad-Aware/Spybot mixed work good for me.

AVG is not going to be as thourgho (sp) as Norton. Although, get Avira, and have no problems at all.
