does anyone know which of these is the best performing version of windows...
98 SE
2K Pro
xp home
xp professional

it would be for a P3 866 MHz laptop with 256mb ram and 20gb hdd.

Thanks :)

I definitely agree with the choice of the NTFS-based operating system choices. They are by far more stable.

whats wrong with fat on xp? the 4 gig file size limit doesnt bother me, when i had to use it on an old comp...

I had nothing but instability on FAT when I used it on my workstation. I switched to NTFS, and all my problems were solved.

agreed... fat on an xp computer we had was apparenty the problem for incompatible drivers??? well that's according to our local computer shop (which has actually closed down recently)

well i will most likely use 2000... i believe the laptop is formatted fat32, but it's completely empty anyway, so i could format it ntfs... does 2k support ntfs?

Win2K is only NTFS. It is like Windows NT 4.0. It has no support for FAT32, because it is an NT based operating system.
