Hey everyone. I dont know much about computers (just basics) and I would really appreaciate your help :) I currently have a Compaq Presario R3306 and it doesnt meet my needs anymore, so I am looking for a new laptop. I am looking for something powerfull, that doesnt give off a lot of heat or noise. I will do some traveling, but it will be mostly for home use. My gaming needs are light, however I do have a game called Football Manager 2006 which needs a very fast processor to let it run smootly.

(EDIT- This is what I have right now BTW: http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Presario_Notebook_with_Mobile_AMD_AthlonT_XP_M_Processor_3000_R3306US)

THANK YOU!

well im guessing your budget is around $1000-$1500

First of all, the pentium cpus you are getting in these laptops are obsolete. The new Intel Core Duo is very fast, it does run hot though, but you can get a lower model which should be okay.
Here are a few suggestions which are a lot better than the options you have given. (newegg.com is the website i have used so you can see pictures and compare too).
Low Cost, not the best Quality:

Mid-Class, Great Value:

Best For under $1500 with great features, on the heavier side (8.6 lbs):

Thank you for the suggestions.

I have a question however:
Why are thos ecompletest only between 1.6 and 1.8 GHz?

And why is the new CPU better than the pentium one?

Thanks!

core duo has two processors running. while pentium M only has one processor. each processor divides the workload that one pentium M would have to worry about. that's why it's better.

I see, thanks. But, would having a dual core 1.8GHz be as good as having a Pentium 3Ghz for example (Speed and performence wise)?
