Duel Monitor Setup Help

Hiya all!

I recived an extra monitor a few days a go and now I have connected it up and have two monitors. At the moment, it is setup as a basic "extended desktop", where I can move my mouse to the right of the screen and it will move straight onto the other monitor.

The problem is, I had the new monitor for the idea of that I could talk to people on IRC/MSN on my new monitor, while playing on a game on the other. In the extended desktop, I cant exactly just move my mouse to the right in the game, becuase it just wouldnt do anything.

Is there any way I could simpily keep my game onscreen while I switch over to my other monitor to talk to someone and then switch back? Is there any program you can get that makes like "two desktops" and have different programs running on each and then press a button to switch between them? I have seen people having two different desktop images on each screen so I assume you can.

Sorry if you dont understand exactly, its slightly difficult to explain.

I have never actually tried the duel monitor experience, is it any good?

You can't do that Im afraid, once you click out of the game, it closes.
