Red hat is good for a newbee, I like gentoo the best. You also have, knoppix(live), Ubuntu, slackware which is good but an oldie, Debian GNU just to name a few. But there are all sort of distros out there to choose from. I say goto the book store and grab a linux book. the best part no spyware or virus can affect your system with unix/linux its just the fact that everything has to installed by the user. unless you gave someone else permission to you files. theres only been one virus written for linux, but you have to install it to get it.

And Aero simply will not run on that card john123. You basically have a more memory intensive copy of XP now.
 
hmm ive heard of all them linuxes but do not know whats so good about then. i will do some research soon.
