Ok, Im might be building a new desktop pretty soon. So I need to know, which is better to buy, and why? I will be usig my computer for a lot of gaming, so keep that in mind.

I see... So theres really no point in spending extra money in dual-core technology? If I remember correct, it speeds up ur apps by like 30% or something.

AMD has dual core processors too. they're alot better than the pentium Ds right now since they're still using northbridge southbridge tech, while AMD has an integrated memory controller or something along those lines. If you have the money get an AMD X2 or just wait for Core 2 Duo (Conroe)

Hmm alright... I really cant afford $400-500 for just the processor. By Athlon I was talking in the lines of Athlon 3200-3500

go with the AM2 socket and get a 3200+, then upgrade when amd releases its new cpus to compete with the "conroe" from intel
