AMD 3800+X2
160gb hd
1.7gig of ram
7600GT(possibly SLI in the future)

That would be good. Not sure if you will notice a HUGE difference but it will still be nice.

in my opinion, your new build will be alot better, and i would just put the 2 gigs from your alienware into your custom and make one great computer. the 7600gt is alot better than the x800..well.. depending on the model

A 3800+ X2 is basically two 3200+ stuck together with a communications bridge. So gaming performance should be identicle to a 3200+ single core, which is awfully good.

my 3800 runs... great.... i leave guildwars, wc3, and cs1.6 open and i don't get very noticeable FPS drops. i can run HL2 and guildwars at the same time with out any noticeable slowing. seriously dual core is great, and with that video card and RAM compared to mine, you'll see an even bigger increase.

yes it is faster but for older games they only use one core, it should still be good because windows will divide the processes up between the cores and u'll get a big boost in speed

so lets say an older game like Diablo 2 LOD wont use the 2 cores just one? Will WoW use both?
