cause thats over 150 degrees F right there...is that normal? i bought a little $5.95 fan to put in the back of my computer the other day just to have one cause theres room for one...is it better to take the heatsink thing off and have the air blowing directly on the cpu?

No, dont ever take the heatsink off the computer, or it will fry! And no thats a bit high, but speed fan isnt always 100% correct, check the temps in your bios. If they're the same, then maybe its time for a new heatsink/fan, try doing some cable managment, apply new thermal paste ( only need a bit, size of a rice grain is good)..

Drumthrasher, have you by any chance got a speed controller for your CPU fan to speed it up maybe double to lower temps? At that RPM, it'll still be quiet.
