This is sample meaning that its not done yet.. :)


1. Enable Disk Defragmenter

1. Right click on My Computer Click on Properties

2 .Click on Windows system performace rating

3. On the side, there is a link called Advanced Tools

4. Find Open Disk Defragmenter

5. Uncheck Run Automatically (Recommended)

Now, when you go to my computer, right click on your harddisk and go to defragmenter. It will open


2. Opening msconfig

1. Open Start

2. The Search bar, type msconfig

There you have Msconfig open


3. Enabling Vista Boot Screen

1. Open Start

2. The Search bar, type msconfig

3. Go to the tab Boot

4. Check No GUI Boot

Vista may take longer to boot, but its still a nice boot screen


4. Starting up unwanted Vista programs


1. Open Start

2. The Search bar, type msconfig

3. Go to the tab Startup

4. Uncheck Windows Defender (If you dont have Antivirus)

5. Also Micorsoft Windows Operating System

If vista does act weird when the option Micorsoft Windows Operating System disable, boot to safe mode and check that option back.


5. Enabling L2 Cache

1. Go to your start menu and go to Search bar and type REGEDIT

2. Select and open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

3. Select and open SYSTEM

4. Select and open CurrentControlSet

5. Select and open Control

6. Select and open Session Manager

7. Select and open Memory Management

8. Select SecondLevelDataCache and right click it and click Modify

9. The normal the decimal is 0, change that decimal to your current L2 cache

Now, vista should run faster for some users. Some it wont.
- If your cpu is dual core.. add both of them together, Say I had 512KB L2 + 512KB L2 well add them together and that would be 1024


6. Large System Cache

1. Go to your start menu and go to Search bar and type REGEDIT

2. Select and open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

3. Select and open SYSTEM

4. Select and open CurrentControlSet

5. Select and open Control

6. Select and open Session Manager

7. Select and open Memory Management

8. Find LargeSystemCache , right click on it to Modify

9. Put the decimal to 1

This allows the Kernel to Run in memory improves system performance alot. For some users


7. Chaning Vista theme to make computer to take less ram

1. Go to Desktop

2. Right click with mouse, click on Personalize or Personalization

3. Click on Visual Appearance

4. Than Pick Classic Theme

5. Before you press Apply Go to Effects

6. Uncheck Everything.

This will make some alittle more free memory for your ram


8. Turn off account protection (by Lestat on XtremeSystems forums)

1. Go to Start, Click on Control Panel

2. Click on Administrative tools

3. Than Click on Local Security Policy

4. Go to Local Policies

5. Than click on Security Options

6. Find:

- User Account Control: Behavior Of The Elevation Prompt For Administators In Admin Approval Mode

- User Account Control: Behavior Of The Elevation Prompt For Standard Users

7. Right Click on

User Account Control: Behavior Of The Elevation Prompt For Administators In Admin Approval Mode

Click on properties. Than change the list to No Prompt

8. Repeat this for User Account Control: Behavior Of The Elevation Prompt For Standard Users

There, when you open a program the box wont come up saying you want to open this.. and this will save alittle ram


9. Disabling or Enabling CTRL + ALT + DEL to login

1. Go to Start, Click on Control Panel

2. Click on Administrative tools

3. Than Click on Local Security Policy

4. Go to Local Policies

5. Than click on Security Options

6. Find Interactive Logon: Do not require CTRL + ALT + DEL

7. Enable it to disable the login or Disable to enable the login

Now when you go to login, it should show the window of CTRL + ALT + DEL to log in


10. Change Rights of a user


1. Go to Start, Click on Control Panel

2. Click on Administrative tools

3. Than Click on Local Security Policy

4. Go to Local Policies

5. Go to User Rights Assignment

Now you can change what has rights. So say you made a accont for somone but you dont want them doing this just changes the settings to your accont and administrative and nots her or hes accont


11. Making Internet Faster

1. Go to your Start menu and go to Search bar and type REGEDIT

2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG

3. Than Click on Software, -> Micosoft -> windows -> CurrentVersion -> Internet Setting

4. Right Click on ProxyEnable and click modify

5. Put the Value Date to 0

Now it should take less time to load a webpage on IE
 

12. To prevent vista from requiring signed drivers:


1. customize the start menu and enable the run command, in the run command box, type cmd

2. enter the following in the command window that appears, to disable driver signature checks:
bcdedit –set nointegritychecks ON

3. reboot the computer

if the "bcdedit –set nointegritychecks ON" does not work, try "bcdedit /set nointegritychecks ON

Have Full Control on your user accont




Go there by:

Start -> Run -> Msconfig -> tools

Than click on Disable UAP, and click Launch

Window will come up and its complete
 
One thing: when I play CS:S or equivalent, I get laggy FPS, before getting normal FPS. Now, as soon as I shoot or someone else shoots, my PC locks up. I have switched to PCI card...will it work?

well vista beta 2 takes alot of Page Fileing + lots of Video card memory.. You should be happy that its even runing.. I played CS1.6 on it and it was laggin alittle and it was playing at 32frames.. XP I got like way over 100 frames
 
Nah, I got like standard 50FPS same time...just with sounds. Now, I am retrying it with the PCI card. Some of the tweaks are really handy.
 
You think the final version will be more PC friendly? That worries me if it will significantly lag games.
