or
---AMD ATHLON 64 FX55 PGA939 2.6GHZ 1MB CACHE VAR 104W 2.0GHZ PIB

----Motherboard I'm not to sure, I'd like one to have 2 PCI-E around 3-4 PCI, and either 3-4 Slots for DDR400 (if you have suggestions please tell)

----Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3500641AS 500GB Serial ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer Serial ATA-300 X 3

---Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platnium

---600W Supply

---Corsair XMS 3200 2GB

---Coolermaster Hyper 6+ (CPU Fan)

Thanks Guys

ok here goes with the suggestions...

cpu = Opteron 165 (comes stock 1.8Ghz but almost every single stepping can reach 2.6
Ghz on stock cooling)

Mobo = ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939(good reputation, decent for overclocking, and
has all of your requests)

Hard Drive = yours is totally fine, many people will suggest a raptor 10000 rpm for the os
but that (to me) is a waste of money.

Video Card = 7900GT (it is more powerful than the 7800GTX and costs much less, any brand should be fine but XFX and eVGA are preferred due to the warrenties and eVGAs step up program.)

sound card = yours is fine(might want to think about buying some nice speakers with the money you will save if you go with my suggestions)

Power Supply = Enermax 535w (wattage isn't the only thing you should look at, the key thing is the +12V rails, the enemax has dual +12V rails at 18amps a piece, and it is SLI certified. it will power almost anything you can throw at it)

RAM = G.Skill Extreme Series 2GB 2 x 1GB DDR SDRAM Unbuffered Dual Channel DDR500 (PC4000)

an additional cpu HSF is fine but just to tell you opterons are known for having very very nice stock cooling. anyway i hope these help.

go with dual core and socket AM2 as it will last u a lot longer, for a motherboard something from ASUS or DFI would be good, as for the graphics card i would just get 1 7600gt because in january (i think) windows vista is coming out and that supports direct x 10 which none of the current graphics cards support so just get the 1 card which should last u until then

Actually, something on that vista thing changed, and Dx 9c will be supported or something like that. I think TRD knows. Ask him.
