My Views On Things {IMO}

Don't even tell me you were that easily offended. Facts are facts, dial up is stone-age by today's standards.

You need'nt be offended just because some stated the truth, he didn't know you couldn't get it.

Dial up is just not used much anymore.. and the internet tends to take advantage of that fact.

Personally, i'd love a system that would let us use pictures (with a resolution limit, of coarse) on here... along with an option in UserCP to disable signature tags.. that way people who do not want them or dial uppers can stand it...

There was a forum I used to go to that worked like that.. users could have 'privliges'.. like being able to post pictures, pictures in signatures.. privs could be removed on certain users by mods or admins.. that way people who think they are funny and like to post porn can have thier freedom cut down.

personally I'd love an internet designed for dialup users, no annoying flash crap on websites, no stupidly large pictures or csreen shots in posts!! everything would load pretty much instantly... (wouldn't it be great)

As far as Avatars go, every now and then everyone gets restless and creates a massive thread on avatars and how we need more... but I don't think that's exactly true, I thikn that the current amount of avatrs is enough, (although that obviously doesn't affect me!).

Personally I don't have a problem with clean and or funy avatars, but it's pretty obvious that some people will miss use those tags.
I mean there are already some people who seem to find it great to use the [ img ] tags to post unappropriate pictures!

Thats a good point, root. I hate flash ads.. thanks to flash ads, I could barely use the internet on my old computer. (see sig, torrent box). Shouldn't need a fast CPU just to browse the web..

I know in the past people have posted in here about they want images in their signatures and they want formatting in their signatures and whatnot... but here are my views on this, the good and the bads in my opinions...

Images In Signatures -- The Good
(a) You could have a cool image that you photoshopped yourself or whatever with your username or your computer specifications.

Images In Signatures -- The Bad
(a) It really, really gets annoying for dialup users, especially 28.8k users like me. On some other forums, I have to actually adblock or disable downloading of images on some forums because it takes too long to load everyone's huge file size animated avatars and/or signature images.

(b) It gives people the opportunity to post pornography or other graphic material in their signatures before moderators notice and remove it.

So, really I prefer forums without images allowed in the sigs, like CF, but thats just my opinion.

Formatting In Signatures, colors, etc. etc. -- The Good
(a) Well, the ability to use bold, italics, underline and coloring makes the signature more creative... better in some ways.

Formatting In Signatures, colors, etc. etc. -- The Bad
(a) It makes the forum look messier...IMO

That's just my opinion on a couple things. :)
Very good points but it aiin't goin' to happen anyway.

why do we even have this thread, its david's choice, and all you did was make a thread to agree with him, oh , and get cable...

Do you even know what I meant by disabling tags?..... obviously not.

when you post a picture in a thread you use http://something/[./img]

if those img tags are disabled, it would only show the text, sorta like that.

Hey man, i've got nothing against dos games. Thats all I played until about 2000 :D

As for slow computer, well, I know how that is. I used to have a 300mhz, so all I did was play old games, and when I was told to get out of the stone age, I always said I couldn't cause I had no money. Now that I do, I got a new shiny computer.

But just because you've said that you can't before, doesn't mean we all know that.

See if you play dos games on an old system, thats fine, nobody has anything against that..
Now if you try to play modern games on and old system.. well.. it's crap. Just like trying to use dial up in today's internet. Naturally everyone would tell you to get high speed and move out of the stone-age. (Stone-age implying that you are using old tech - NOT OFFENSIVE.)

A friend of mine is stuck on dial up as well.. the only way he can get high speed is if he pays comcast $1,000 to install it in his neighborhood.

Yes, I know dialup is crap, thats why I grab every chance at school to use their broadband (and it can download 1mb in like 5 seconds while it takes me 10-15mins)
I have dial-up on narrowband, & I've timed it; average 12 seconds.
