I did these two mods, so only you guys knoow which background I'm talking of. If not,

it looks really good!
the only thing is that it seems the boat has a different resolution then the background

The one problem I see is a fakeish looking boat.

But overall their great. I like them. Did you also take the origional photo?

That comes to my question:
Is it good to use the lasso tool for the boat, or do I need something else?

it works i guess, all i think u need to do is find a boat wit better resolution, and it does kinda look like u cut it out.. so i dunno
try goin wit a really small brush, and smoothin out those edges, or blending them or sumtin.

I like how you put the glare and the sun in Mod #1, but I don't really like how you photoshopped in the boat. I know it'll add in more, but the way it sticks out like a sore thumb (i.e. unnatural edges) makes it look tacky. Just my observation though. All in all, not bad.
