Windows won't install

I got a new motherboard and so I did a repair on Windows XP. It gets through the dos installing then it goes to the windows looking part, and when it gets to installing devices it just stays there. It doesn't lock up cause in the bottom right the thing keeps on moving. Is there anyway to like cancel the install or something.

Is the new motherboard the same chipset as the old one? ex. - nforce 2, 3, 4, VIA

First, I got it to work I decided to install Pro but that of course delted registry so I have to install everything. But with the questions I waited about 45 minutnes and the bar didn't move at all, and yes, it was the same chipset as the older motherboard.
