Question about a Stripped array with 4 HDD's!?

How many hard drives can you use in a Stripped array?

I've got 4x250 gig Sata II 3.0 GB 16 meg hdd's. And I have it setup in a 0+1, configuration. But I was wondering, would having them setup in a stripped array be whole lot faster.

Considering the Concept of Raid I would say yes, but Has anybody ever run them in this setup? I wonder if they could be pretty faulty. I'm going to be starting up a business soon. And I will be doing a whole lot of video encoding. So I was just wondering...
