It may. If you're looking to build a gaming rig, why not go for the FX line?
Have you noticed he's on a budget? The processor alone would put him over.

Everything looks good. No you willn't be bottlenecking with that processor. Overclocked the opteron is the speed of a FX-55 or 57.

About the soundcard yes it can give you a few more FPS's. When you are using onboard audio your processor has to process the sound too. When you use an independent sound card you are relieving your processor of that stress.

I have a 3000+...wish I had gotten an opteron..

Soundcard? A soundcard isn't going to give you more frames per second...a sound card deals with sound and sound only.

RAM? crucial ballistix is great ram, and 1gb is pretty good, 2gb will be great.
actually they do help get more fps because it takes some load off the motherboard, as for ram OCZ is pretty damn good just try to get the lowest timings possible, and have u thought about getting a dual core cpu? it would be far better than a single core opteron...and since u'll be overclocking u'll need some better cooling than the stock cooling that comes with the cpu, get this for the cpu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835106061, and this for the graphics card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118001 one other thing, i recommend u get an OCZ powerstream as they are a very stable psu and it will help when it comes to overclocking

I would get a opteron just for the fact that they overclock alot better then 3200 (Even better thena venice)

Just to let you know the Opteron 246 sledgehammer, doesn't over clock. Well it doesn't on my s2895 motherboard, and from what I've read it doesn't either.

Make sure if you got the money to get a 90nm core if ya can.
