Hey, Everyone knows E3 is going on now. (Decided to buy a pc instead of going =\ Even had an oportunity to go, cuz dads in the newpaper business but eh.. oh well) Well. G4 has live coverage every day that theyre showing on G4 Tech TV, and they also have it streamed on G4Tv.com

What I want to know.. Is there anywhere on G4tv to download it from them? Or will I have to use a Stream Ripper to get everything? (I want to put it on my player to show my friends who dont have fast internet to stream it)

www.ign.com has some streams you can download I believe

http://uk.ign.com/e3/2006/videos/

Though I'm afraid it's either WMV, or MOV. So most portable players probably won't be able to handle the format. To make mine support it, I'd have to convert, probably using Flash, and that'd take a good hour or 2.

But there you go :)

The only problem with Gamespot is that you need to sign up to download I believe (or you did at first), though that is a simple process. The only thing I didn't like was having to give my address to them...

They are all WMV though on both counts (or MOV in IGN), which might be a problem

Its easy to get converters for wmvs lol

I had a hell of a time finding a ogm and mkv converter though, comparedly its nothing lol

And I downloaded some files at Gamespot, But They dont have all the things on G4, Im thinking im gonna have to find a stream ripper, dont know where I would go to find one though

I guess you could give a fake one or something.

What the heck is OGM and MKV?... lol...

Well IGN definietly does have downloadable versions of all the 3 press confrences, albeit, at the moment in low 300k sample rate, so you can't see text very clearly, and some ghosting appears.

Wish I'd of thought of the fake address thing... too late now. But it made me wonder why they would have needed it in the first place.

I downloaded those at gamespot, "low res" but good quality.

And See what I mean? Thats my point, most people dont even know what they are lol
Theyre new video formats, support multiple audio layers, multiple closed caption layers, high compression rates, Which translates into good quality, small size. lol And its great if you want to download something with multiple language options (DVDs, Anime, Etc)

It's like how we had bmp and jpeg for so long, but one was small file size, one was good quality, then png came along and had size of jpeg but quality of bmp. only with video

Edit: Also, Where did It say anything about address? I dont remember giving mine. Unless you subscribe

Wow, like the sound of that :) Where are the links to them?

I always thought PNG were basically uncompressed bitmaps with slightly different attributes. You laern something new every day!

I bet if it wasn't for my threads, you wouldn't know what a MOD, S3m file, or XM file was though...or would you? :p

lol I don't know about other people, But I read ALOT of articles lol (Wikipedia is your friend too lol)

For Matroska: http://www.matroska.org/
For OGM: I don't really know where you can get the codec for it, I know the creators are http://www.Xiph.org though, I got the codec in a combined community codec pack at http://www.cccp-project.net/ (Got that because it has any codec you need for playing anime lol)

*Anime Junkie*

But its useful to have for alot of other things too
