With ads on CF....alot of people won't visit...giving CF little revenue

Without ads on CF (people using adblockers) alot of people will be on CF, giving CF little revenue.

Which will you choose :)
Text ads usually more people click them, like google adsense or whatnot.

lol, that's funny. I'll bet if there were very interesting ads like links to PC stores or places to get affordable games, cheap hosting, etc. We just need ads that will attract people that are into computers.
I like that idea very cool :)

So if David can get some of these companies to help sponsor this site, that would be pretty good. Imagine if he somehow gets Newegg to get an ad banner on here. Can you imagine the amount of hits Newegg will get??!??!?!!? Or even get some known companies like PC World or Microsoft. Is this even remotely possible? I have no clue how to approach this or how hard it would be, but something related to those kind of ads would contribute a lot to this site.

well, i've run all my anti-adware/spyware scans, and the pop unders seem to be gone....at least for now. i don't mind seeing the ad banners on the pages...but i can't tolerate pop-ups or pop-unders!

i'm using ie6.... (also, i'm not interested in firefox, opera, etc., so no need in suggesting that i switch browsers). and, to clarify...i'm getting pop unders, not pop-ups. I don't usually get any pop-ups at all. this happed to cf back in like february or so also when ad companies were switched.
I have IE6 too, never any trouble, I will never swap, every time I have a problem, I get the same old comments when I say I have IE6, like that's your problem, get firefox etc
By the way, I use Wanadoo, brilliant, yesterday I got a notice in the post that they are amalgamating with Orange, & will be known as Orange henceforth, introducing web connections on mobile phones, I don't have a mobile, think they are unnecessary, particularly to me in my circumstances, so I just hope that it won't affect the excellent service that Wanadoo give me, for example, if they can't connect me by my normal dial-up number, a different dial-up display comes up, & you are connected by another of their phone connections, no extra charges, also when you've been online for two hours, [yes, I stay on that long some time, modding!] they automatically re-dial & connect you, a true 24 hour service, aptly named "Anytime", what's your view on this?

sounds good, but i gave up dial-up a while ago, and dsl is so much better..especially because i do a lot of sending photos back and forth. i would recommend upgrading to dsl if you can, but if you can't, your "anytime" connection sounds good.

maybe i spoke to soon saying they were gone. the pop-unders are still occuring, and they are getting anoying enough that i don't want to surf and post on this site. that is unfortunate.

If you use a pop-up blocker, you won't get the pop-ups. But you have to realize, without advertisements and popups CF wouldn't survive.

i would think the ad banners up top, and the porno link at the bottom, would generate enough revenue to keep the site running. those annoying pop-ups, and especially the pop-unders which pop-up blockers don't even block, are untolerable. maybe David could answer.....are the pop-ups and pop-unders supposed to be there, or just the ad banners?

in the meantime, i've turned my pop-up blocker in ie up to high (block all pop-ups), and also added cf to my restricted zone which disabled active scripting for this site. this should block all of the pop-up and pop-under ads, but it also blocks the ad banners which i would normally tolerate to support cf.
