hey im not so good with choosing the best parts so i was wondering if anyone could give some idea with what motherboard n processor to get within a $300 range that would be great :D, i'll be using it mainly for gaming btw

An AMD then would suffice very well.

How about this CPU? Someone else could recommend a good motherboard to go with it.

I suggest this:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice

It costs $162 and you have room to spend for an excellent motherboard! :D

You could also dabble in overclocking if you wished, which with a good motherboard and RAM setup, could get it faster than a model almost twice this price.

Ehhhh, i would spend more money on a cpu and get a motherboard with less features.

I would probably get the motherboard I have, MSI K8N Neo4-F. $80 motherboard.

This would give enough space to get maybe... an amd64 3500+ 'venice', $203 on newegg. nice fast CPU for gaming.

Yeah, thats the CPU I chose, and would be almost the same in performance to a 3500+ anyway, and if overclocked, could reach that easily anyway, so buying a chip thats almost double the price (like me) might not be such a good idea.

I recommend my motherboard. It's really a steal for what you get. I think it's about 80 bucks now... The reviews (last time I checked) are quite astounding, so check out the A8N5X!
