Question about flaps on I/O shield

Oh, those little things. I just cut those off with my wire cutters before I put it in the case. I leave a little of it behind, but bend it forward so it looks nice. Doesn't really serve any useful purpose.

I was told those flaps are use to ground the metal boxes surrounding the inputs/outputs but i guess they arent necessary! now back to building :)... i finally got some more time this weekend.

I'm not familiar with it being grounded. Yeah, definitely not necessary. You're hardly ever back there messing with it anyways. Most devices you plug into it already have grounds and insulations covers so I can't see anyway for it to short out. If the clips aren't getting into your way of your devices (mine did-it was extra long and I had to cut it), then leave it as it is.
